335 skvadron på Gardermoen har åpen dag lørdag 27 august, da feirer de 65 år siden opprettelse. Besøkende har tilgang fra kl. 13.00 – 17.00. Dette er sakset fra Luftforsvarets egen beskrivelse av skvadronen: 335 skvadron 335 skvadronen holder til på Gardermoen, og opererer Luftforsvarets arbeidshest, transportflyet C-130J Hercules. Avdelingen løser oppdrag over hele verden, fra Bardufoss til Jan Mayen, Sydpolen og Irak. I dag er hovedoppgavene å yte transportstøtte til spesialstyrker og norske avdelinger i utlandet, ambulanseoppdrag og medisinsk evakuering. Foruten å være en kampklar militær enhet med spesialkompetanse innen taktisk lufttransport yter 335 skvadron ofte støtte til det sivile samfunn blant annet i forbindelse med naturkatastrofer. Under jordskjelvkatastrofen i Iran i 2003 var 335 skvadronen på plass, og etter tsunamien i Sørøst-Asia i 2004 var Hercules-flyene stasjonert i Indonesia og deltok i luftbroen som fløy inn utstyr og nødhjelp til de rammede i Banda Aceh-provinsen. I 2008 mottok skvadronen de to første nye Hercules C-130J, som er en oppdatert versjon av flytypen. Sommeren 2010 ble flyparken komplett. Luftforsvaret har nå mottatt de to siste flyene fra Lockheed Martin. Bilder fra skvadronens 60-års feiring finner du i galleriet ved å klikke her .
